Well How Was That???

Which Page Should Be Your Home Page

These days Internet is a regular part of our lives and the component of the computer that connects us to the internet is our Web Browser. So what should be kept as a homepage for our web browser?

After lot of thinking and trial and error i have reached my conclution.

Should it be a personalized homepage (iGoogle or Yahoo)-No

Should It be a web portal- (MSN,Yahoo,AOL)-No

Should it be a search engine-(Google,Live)-No

The Best option for your homepage is Blank:

That's right- blank and that is because:

It saves time as a page does not have to be loaded when you start your web browser. You dont have to see the same page when you start your browser for the nth time during one session.

If you really are a time freak a better option would be to create a favourites group containing all the Login Pages Of websites you regularly visit and then using the "Open In Tab Group" option on the right click menu.

Microsoft-Yahoo : Our Take

This is the hottest news in the WWW these days- Microsofts offer for Yahoo. We are no businessmen and don't care about the deal or anything but one thing is for sure that if this deal takes place its gonna be awesome.
Together they have the potential to take on Google and i'd prefer them even if they are a notch lower than Google because i prefer my privacy to anything else. But the current Live search is to pathetic to use maybe Microsoft+Yahoo may be a better search.
Also it would mean serious competition for Google which hasn't seen any in last 5yrs.
It would also mean the revival of services that suffered just because Google didn't like them (Payperpost,Reviewme).
Also it would combine the two best messengers in the world and who khnows they might create an email service better than Gmail!
AND ABOVE ALL
I would also like this merger because nobody wants Google to become the Microsoft of internet!

Google Experimental Search

A very interesting page i discovered at QuickOnlineTips:
http://www.google.com/experimental/index.html
This page has a lot of Experiments that Google is giving a try to and may be included in their main search engine in the future.Their are many interesting search prospects that one may like to join but unfortunately its one at a time.
Google is even more in the news recently with the TLA,ReviewMe and Payperpost controversies and a popular blogger said he got an email from someone saying google are launching their own Review service and he believe they may do it....!
All we can do is wait and watch :-(

Speech Recogination In Windows Vista: A Terrible Joke!

I couldn't think of a better title that would tell any body anything about speech recoganition in Windows Vista. Today I had some free time so i decided that it would be fun to give the long unused speech recogaintion a try. After an hour of painstakingly setting up the whole thing as recommended by Microsoft i get an application that is totaly usesless and takes space as "Empty" Ha Ha Very Funny.

I think i could have typed faster than I would speak using speech recoganition.

For Example i am going to speak :"A Quick Brown Fox Jumped Over The Lazy Dog" and let us see what speech recoganition makes of it.."

P.S.- I also said "peech Recoganition Is totally useless"which somehow made it move downwards...!

-ok-

Click on the image to see what Speech Recoganition did to it! If that is not enough i have another piece where i sspent 15 minutes dictating "My Name Is" but tried in vain to make it spell my name:

Well if you still have time to kill and happen to own Windows Vista,
Start>All Programs>Accessories>Ease Of Access > Windows Speech Recoganition.
Although I would recommend not deleting it, it would be a good laugh when someone comes over!

MacBook Air is certainly in the air!

Proving rumours true Apple introduced us to the ultra-slim, ultra-light and ultra-portable Macbook Air at the MacWorld last week. I read all about it and for the first time read the keynote live through Engadget- It was a good experience but i had to cut my sleep for it!

The Notebook is the thinnest notebook in the world and has a great processing capacity to. It can fit in anywhere you might think. The only compromise made is of the optical drive though Apple promises it won't be required through application of many innovative ideas. You can head over to engadget for the full review of the device which i think comes at a reasonable price too.

Google Woks Pretty Fast!!

Well just a week i removed all things PayPerPost from this blog and vow to start building it again, i find that i have been updated to my old PR! That was pretty fast- Thank You Google ;-)
Now I am scouting for interesting things to blog about and take this blog to higher levels.
The traffic has becom steady and has increased a bit since I restarted working on this Blog.
I am searching for a desktop blogging client now...
My past experiences with Windows Live Writer have been good but since then it had mysteriously stopped working with my blog and after that i lost all my data because my Laptop crashed due to Windows Vista.(Which isn't as good as i claimed,in fact i sometimes think it is no good at all expect for the eye-candy!)

Yahoo Messenger For Vista:All Show And No Work!

The much hyped Yahoo Messenger for Windows Vista was launched a few days back and i have been using it for a day or two. I think the messenger is truely built for Vista because it looks more stylish than it can work.
Infact when it comes to work all you can doe with it is text chatting and send emocation.
No Video Confrencing, No PC-to-PC calls not even the "BUZZ". So all you can do is sit down and admire its looks! Even the sidebar widget is useless it helps you keep contact od one of you friends but for that also you have to start the messenger which makes the widget practically useless.
The other thing that has gone missing is the Chat-Rooms which were obviously a hit.
Since its looks are all its worth here are some Pics:
The start Up I Took The Shot At The Incorrect Moment Otherwise the logo looks beautiful!

The Sign In Screen Nothing New...

The Actual Thing do you notice the widget on the Sidebar??
The only good thing about this is "Tabbed Chatting" (Maybe I love Tabs!!)

Inside A Mobile!

Here is the inside view of mobile parts as i promised. The mobile is very ancient infact it willl look like a stone to the current iPhone generation. As far as i remember it has a blue display i kept it when it was rendered useless and had a lot of difficulty opening it. I used to play Mobile-Puzzle with it taking out all parts and rearranging them again, because of which the keypad was lost! Anyway take a look:
(Sorry about the quality of the images i dont have any better camera available right now!)

A picture with all the parts together.

The part we love- Circuit Board!!

The Battery...

What is left of the keypad.

The Screen

Inside A Webcam !

I don't get many opportunities to break gadgets and then see what is inside them but sometime back i got a chance and decided that its good enough to share with the world. I did go ahead and by a latest product and take it off it was just an old webcam that didn't work anymore.
I expected the webcam to be cramed from inside but was surprised to find that it just had a circut board along with the lense.
So without further ado here are the pics:
Everything taken out with the help of a knife!

Side view of the circuit board attached with the lens.

Back Side of the circuit board.

Ok look at the lens (Say Cheeese)

Separating the lens from the motherboard .(took out the convex lens inside it.)

Well Thats That!
Not satisfied??
Dont worry "Inside a mobile" is coming very soon!!

Yet Anoher ComeBack !

Well I am back again to revive this blog for the nth time since it started. I going to bring back its glory days and the good times. Here are some measures i am taking:
>Ditching PayPerPost - I am not interested in quick bucks from this blog anymore i'd like my meagre PR back (listening Google??)
>I am going to maintain a strict posting schedule with atleast 3 posts a week.
>The blog wont wander off to topics outside its niche ever again! (My b"day was on christmas BTW)

So time For The Return Of AGeekyLife.Com!
